Fire Safety Plans

There is no question that Fire Safety Plans are critical to the well-being of your building’s occupants and to your own liability protection. The National Fire Code, Section 2.8 requires that a Fire Safety Plan be created for a variety of building types. By law, these plans must be kept up-to-date and reviewed at least once every twelve months. Penalties for noncompliance include stiff fines and imprisonment.

A complete Fire Safety Plan includes:

  • Layouts of the interior and exterior;
  • Safe meeting areas;
  • Locations of shut off valves and hazardous materials;
  • Fire drill procedures;
  • Information about mobility-impaired persons in the building;
  • Important contact numbers and much more.

Fortunately for local owners, managers and tenants, Canada offers some of the most advanced technology in this field. In fact, we are the first country in the world to create Web-enabled Fire Safety Plan applications.

Digital plans are much faster to create and maintain and, having them online means they can be updated anywhere with an internet connection. As an added bonus, fire departments can download these en route to a fire and always have the most current information.

PLANiT’s Fire Safety Plan portal is designed to help you create and maintain your own Fire Safety Plan at a fraction of the cost of hiring a third party. This self-serve program is available through our website. We also offer assistance, technical support and full-service plans should you wish to have our Technicians inspect, prepare and have the plans approved by your local Fire Prevention Office on your behalf.

A good fire plan can save money and headaches for those in the industry - it can also save important assets and priceless lives.
